Sightseeing in Louisville

On our way to see Avatar today we took a detour which turned into a 3 hour sightseeing drive around Louisville. Didn't quite make it to the movie...

First we drove around Anchorage, KY and discovered the house of the pizza guy, Papa John. Then we drove over to Indiana and explored some roads named Skyline Drive.

4 inches!

Woke up this morning to 4 inches of snow!

Last night, though, I had no hope for snow. We went to bowling at 8pm and when we got done around 10:30 it was snowing and we had a little dusting on the cars. Brett and I went for a walk when we got home but it had stopped snowing and there was absolutely nothing sticking on the ground.

Our bowling team!

the little bit of snow on our car after bowling

heading out for our walk (not in the snow)

That all changed when I woke up this morning to a beautiful 4 inches of snow!

We ventured out to starbucks after we walked around the neighborhood for a little bit. This is what we saw in the parking lot...apparently the snow plow did not bother moving the shopping cart to plow the area.

Texas Roadhouse

Last night Brett and I went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse and took Maci along with us.
She was in a great mood and ordered steak (and ate every bite!)
After dinner we went back over to her house to hang out for a little bit.

Snow!

I’m going to try and be more productive today. I did nothing yesterday related to the wedding or working. I met Brett for dinner, read a book, and went to handbells (which was a lot of fun!). The day before yesterday I was extremely productive so I’ll try to do that again today.

There is supposed to be some snow this weekend. I’m pretty excited about that.

"... Winter storm may affect area Friday afternoon through early Saturday...

A major storm system will develop across the Gulf states tonight... bringing the potential for significant snow accumulations to the area beginning late Friday morning and lasting into Saturday morning.

By early Friday morning... light snow will extend well north of the surface low over the Gulf states. Widespread light snow will push farther north into the Louisville and Frankfort Metro areas by the late morning hours.

The track of the system is still not clear cut. It should be noted that a slight shift in the track of this storm system will greatly determine resulting snowfall accumulations. A more southern track would yield lesser snowfall totals for example. A more northern track will bring heavier snowfall amounts. As of now... areas along the Interstate 64 corridor are forecast to receive 1 to 3 inches of snow... potentially causing problems with the Friday afternoon commute."

First full weekend...

This weekend was really good. So far I’m loving being here. Brett got sick on Friday so that sucked…but after he started feeling better we went to David’s Bridal so I could pick up my dress for Julie’s wedding, the mall so he could get his paycheck, and then we went bowling. Bowling was awesome. Mark, the other guy on our team, is really nice. Kim and John came out to watch us bowl. My average is a 90. I did pretty bad…but it was still a lot of fun. After bowling Brett and I went to Fourth Street for a little while.

Saturday I slept pretty late and got up finally and went over to Brett's. He did some homework while I semi-napped. Then, around 4 we went to pick up Andrea and headed to Indianapolis for the Pacers game. That was fun even though they lost. We got back in town around 11:30 and went over to matt’s apartment and watched a movie/hung out.

Sunday, also slept late. Got up and went to McDonalds and then to Kroger with Brett. The rest of the day was pretty much football.

Today, I took Kim to therapy and it’s been snowing off and on for most of the day. Tonight, Josh made everyone dinner. It was delicious!

Day 2 in Kentucky

It’s been okay. I actually can’t say its better or worse than I thought it would be because I really don’t think i had any idea what to expect or what i would feel like being here. I think its better in terms of how comfortable i feel at Brett’s house and around his mom. They seriously make me feel so at home there.

Move to Kentucky

I'm writing this after the fact but since this is going to be a blog about me living in Kentucky I figured I should write about how I actually got here.

Dad and I left Grapevine around 11am on Friday morning (January 15th). I had been thinking about this day ever since I knew I was going to be moving. I really thought I was going to cry. A lot. But I didn't. I think it helped that I had been packing for awhile and everything just happened in stages. Plus, I hardly had time to think considering the amount of traveling that I had done in the past few weeks. Anyways, we left Grapevine with the car completely full to the top (I wish I had a picture of it packed but I never took one after we were done) and headed down the highway. First stop? Whataburger. Also my last stop at Whataburger for awhile :(

We stopped for the night in Jackson, Tennessee and then headed out the next morning around 8am. When we got to Louisville we (me, dad, and Brett) went to lunch and then the accountants bowl. After that we drove across the river to the Bass Pro Shops before dinner at the Spaghetti Factory.

On Sunday we drove all over Indiana. We spent some time at Huber's Winery and at Jill and Troy's house. Then Brett and I went to Natalie's to unpack most of my stuff! Sunday night we had dinner to celebrate Brett's 23rd birthday!

Monday, we met Brett for lunch near his office at McAlisters and I drove dad to the airport.
