More horse racing

Our boss let us have half the day off on Friday and took us to Millionaire's Row at Churchill Downs for the afternoon. Totally wish we could do this all the time...

People keep asking why there have been so many more deaths with these tornadoes. I know it's a valid question...but at the same time it's mentalities like those of my friends below that are the reason why it's never going to change. No matter how much research goes into forecasting tornadoes, people are still going to want to be "adventurous" and "fearless". I can't believe people were okay with doing this after all of the devastation in Alabama and Missouri recently.

Kentucky Derby

I'm LOVING Kentucky right now. The Derby was awesome. If we move back to Texas we WILL be coming back for this.

Prince of Dubai & Pat Day

Tonight, we played handbells for the Race for Grace dinner on Millionaires Row at Churchill Downs. The Prince of Dubai was there. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of him...but here's one from Google!

We also got to see Pat Day! He even came up and talked to us after we were done performing!

***Day is the all-time leading rider at Churchill Downs and Keeneland Race Course, the two largest tracks in his adopted home state of Kentucky. At the Downs, Day was often so dominant that veteran horseplayers would complain — bettors would often wager so much money on horses with Day in the saddle that the payoff odds would decline.***

Jennifer Carpenter!!!

Okay, this weekend was the best ever (or at least Saturday night was the best ever). I got to see my favorite actress in person!!

Jennifer Carpenter!

Brett and I were on our way home from Kroger around 10pm and he gets a text from his friend saying she was at a bar sitting next to Jennifer Carpenter. We immediately turned around and drove to the bar...by the time we got there Jennifer had left the table and gone inside to listen to a band that was playing. So, we too decided to listen to the band...right next to her! It was awesome.

Unfortunately we didn't talk to her or get a picture with her (one person did as she was leaving but I didn't have a camera, just my phone). But just the fact that we stood next to her for about 30-45 minutes completely made my night.

This is the stalker picture I got of her...it was actually completely black until I tried to lighten it with photoshop which is why it's obviously not that great. It's a side view of her and she's on the left.

Spring is in the air!

I've been looking forward to the start of baseball season since we got our first taste of warmth a few weeks ago (and then it went back to being cold again). Well, I think it's finally here! I can't wait to be able to leave work and walk straight to a Louisville Bats game for the evening. And I'm loving walking around the city when it's nice out! Below are some pictures I took on one of our first 'almost' perfect days here (the wind was pretty bad which is why it was 'almost' perfect) :)
