Wow. It's been awhile. I'm not even sure where to start! I think I'll just open my google calendar and go from there...
According to my calendar...since the last time I posted:
I went to a friend's baby shower
Got my cat spayed/de-clawed
Picked up my bridesmaid's dress for Natalie's wedding
Went to the roller derby
Watched the superbowl
Saw Tokyo Police Club in concert
Went skiing in Indiana
Went to the Pacer's vs. Miami Heat game in Indianapolis
Took my niece ice skating/had a sleepover with her at our apartment
Watched that Amanda Knox movie
I think that's about it for the past month and a half or so. :)
The baby shower:
I am just not a baby person. I guess it's because I've never really been around kids, but I have to say....all that baby stuff she got was so cute! It will still be many years (I hope) before I'm getting cute baby stuff of my own...
The cat:
I loved my cat from the first day we got her -- but I love her even more now that she doesn't drive me crazy and scratch up our furniture and my legs. We weren't going to get her declawed because the more I read about it, the less humane it seemed. But the scratching wouldn't stop and I decided that she actually liked getting sprayed with water every time she scratched...therefore, she scratched more. I think we're all much happier now!
Bridesmaid Dress:
After so much wedding craziness last summer, it's nice to only have one wedding to think about this summer (not that I didn't LOVE all the weddings last summer!). I love my bridesmaids dress...it's dark purple and halter style. Perfect for a summer wedding in a vineyard :)
Roller Derby:
This was my second roller derby. The first one I went to we won by over 200 points so it wasn't a very exciting game. This one though, we were behind for most of the game but made up 40 points in about 5 minutes and actually made it a game...and we won by 1 point at the very end!
Superbowl:
I was rooting for the Steelers. :(
Tokyo Police Club:
Great concert! The doors opened at 8 but the concert didn't 'start' until 9...or rather, the two opening bands didn't start until 9. Unfortunately, Tokyo Police Club started playing at 11pm...on a work night. :( It was a long night, but it had been awhile since I had been to a concert so I was glad we got to go. :)
Skiing:
This was awesome. I loved that it was only an hour away from Louisville. We started the day off on an interesting note considering as we were about to leave our apartment we discovered a bat in our hallway...decided not to try to walk down the hallway until that issue was taken care of! So we ended up skiing from about 5pm until 11pm. I loved skiing at night! We're definitely thinking about buying season passes for next year.
Pacer's game:
This was another late night during the work week...but totally worth it. We left Louisville at 5 and got to the game right when it started at 7pm. Sadly, the Pacer's lost but they played a pretty good game (up until the end that is).
Ice Skating with Maci:
Brett and I weren't sure how this would go...this was Maci's first time on the ice. :) The video below pretty much sums it up.
Amanda Knox movie:
This really was not anything very eventful...but I just watched it last night so it's fresh on my mind. Did anyone else watch this? I really don't know what to think about it. I remember back when all the trials were going on and all the evidence was being talked about I kept changing my mind as to whenther she was guilty or innocent. I kind of did the same thing during the movie. Today, I've read a lot about everything that happened and I'm leaving more towards the fact that she is guilty. But who knows!
welcome back to the blogging world! :) sounds like you've had a busy few months!! I'm fascinated that that many people go to watch roller derbies! I honestly didn't know they had a points system...how did you get involved in that? really cool! Also your kitty is very cute -- that's funny she liked the water sprayed on her lol
ReplyDeletePS - do you guys know Trey Perry from OU? He was in met...I went to high school with him and just found out he's having a baby! crazy!
One of my friends here is really into the roller derby thing (I'm not sure how she got involved in it) and she invited me to one of the games with her. She's actually trying out for the team so hopefully she makes it and I'll be able to go to the games and watch her!
ReplyDeleteWe definitely know Trey! Brett actually lived with him for a year! And I know...I can't believe he's going to be a dad!
Small world you two!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the baby topic. Many years from now sounds good. lol
I don't think I'll ever own a cat. I don't understand how you train them. I can train a dog to stay out of the kitchen and off the furniture, but a cat I feel never is going to listen and is of the opinion they can go anywhere. I am too controlling to allow that. lol
I only have one wedding this summer too! Yes! But I also have two this semester. Can't wait to see the dress!
Is roller derby like betting at a track on who will win the race? I totally don't understand what it is. lol
Steelers? Ugh - I HATE Ben with a passion so if even I like the team I couldn't cheer for them.
I really want to start going to more concerts. I have been to 4 (1 in each school lol). It's hard to convince Michael to spend the money and me to take a break from studying. Hopefully after STEP we can go.
How cool is it you had a bat! We had them in the stadium at A&M - you only saw them at sunset though when they flew out. I like them, but maybe it's cause I have a crush on Batman. lol We should go skiing together sometime! Michael is going again for spring break. I loved night skiing! (although it's a little icy, and someone died the night my mom and I went)
I love basketball games! So much better than football I think (inside, shorter, and less lulls).
I remember my dad teaching me it ice skate. He just held me up in front of him and skated me around. So much fun and no work. lol
I really suck at current events apparently. I had not heard about her at all. I don't watch news or look at it online. My life right now consists of STEP and Disney movies on in the background.
Miss you!!!
Wow, that was a ridiculously long comment. lol Sorry!
ReplyDeletehaha it's okay...it was really long post.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Brett ever thought he would own a cat either. But since dogs aren't allowed in the apt and she needed a home, it just happened. hehe.
It took me awhile to learn the rules of roller derby. Basically you have both teams on the track in somewhat of a pack and then 1 girl from each team behind the main pack. Whichever girl (out of the two in the back) can get through the pack first is the leader and then continues racing around the track and pushing her way through the pack...every team member she passes on the other team gets her a point. <--not sure if that makes much sense!
Night skiing was definitely icy! I was confused at first as to why I couldn't stop! lol. Where did you go night skiing?
Our apartment allows dogs, but I want a medium/large so I want a yard for them.
ReplyDeleteSo if you have Team A and Team B, girl from Team A starts behind Team B and gets points for each person on Team B she passes?
We went in Keystone in Colorado. Not too many places have it in Colorado since you have to have lights and such.
Haha, kinda of like that. Only it's not just team B she is getting through...team A is mixed in with team B trying to help her get through the pack. There's basically just a lot of pushing and shoving and falling down. It's fun to watch. :)
ReplyDeleteOh okay, Keystone is where my cousin did night skiing too. He said they didn't allow it very late though. We could have skied until 3am if we wanted to. But it started to get really, really crowded around 11pm so we ended up leaving. It was kinda like the Saturday night hang-out place or something! lol
